If you or your child (age 5 and older) have concerns about breathing, facial development, dental development, etc. we will start with an Airway Consultation.  At that appointment, Dr. Annie will take a detailed health history as well as take a CBCT scan of the head/neck.  The scan will then be sent to a third party radiologist for review and interpretation.  This information helps us understand more of the "full picture" and enables us to come up with a treatment plan and treatment timeline specific to your unique needs.  "Airway treatment" often takes the collaboration of many different providers in the community.  For example, if a tongue tie is suspected, many times a patient may need to be seen by an orthodontist or ENT before the tongue tie can be addressed.  Our intial consultation serves as an information gathering session that enables us to guide you through treatment, making appropriate referrals when needed.

What is "Airway"?

When we say "airway" the area we are referring to is the respiratory tract, also known as the pharyngeal airway.  Our main focus is evaluting the nasal cavity, oral cavity, and area behind the soft palate and the tongue for obstructions or narrowing.  This gives us more information to develop a treatment plan and make appropriate referrrals to other providers like Orthodontists, ENTs, allergists, etc.
